An artist in the Knoxville community, Kit Hoefer has exhibited in East Tennessee for close to two decades beginning with a degree in fine arts from UTK.

While the paintings and sculpture have evolved and over the years into a rich exploration of color theory and composition, her source of inspiration remains the same.

Inspired by East Tennessee landscape and natural forms, image imposed on pattern, and illustration as an art form, she juxtaposes natural forms with manufactured patterns while pairing bold colors to conduct harmonious vibrations. Her works effortlessly nullifies the associations attached to the objects depicted by imposing them with fantastical elements and a touch of absurdity. One might resonate with the mundanity of the commonplace interior subject matter, while being swirled into the hypnotic patterns woven throughout her unconventional compositions.
